Do you get nervous just thinking about going to the dentist? Is there a procedure you know you need to have done, but anxiety is keeping you from scheduling that appointment? Don’t worry. You’re not alone. Each year, many people delay or never get around to their dental visits because of fear. According to Dr. Lewis:
“Fear is keeping people from getting the services they need.”
Dr. Peete Lewis understands the fear that some of his patients face and takes their comfort seriously. If you’re feeling a bit nervous, just let him know. He offers safe ways to help you relax and keep you comfortable while receiving the dental treatment you need.
Dr. Lewis has been specially trained in administering oral sedation and the sedatives he uses have been studied and are commonly prescribed by medical professionals to calm people. They have a calming effect but leave patients alert enough to be able to interact with Dr. Lewis. In addition to the sedative, patients are often given Nitrous Oxide gas (laughing gas), creating a very relaxing, anxiety free dental experience.
Along with oral sedation and nitrous options, Dr. Lewis has equipped every operatory with new dental massage chairs and flat screen TVs allowing his patients to sit back, relax and take those steps with confidence toward a healthy, beautiful smile.
Oral sedation patients will need to have a friend or family member drive them home after treatment. Following sedation, we recommend relaxing at home for about twelve hours before resuming normal daily activities.
